My name is Eric and I’m the Games Editor at Dorkshelf.com. I write about video games.
I’m also a creative writer and a freelancer of varying persuasions. I’ve previously worked as the Senior Content Editor at C&G Magazine, I was the set and lighting designer for Bad Dress Productions’ stagings of #WeddingMusical (July 2014) and Far Away (November 2013), and I’ve written a handful of plays and some other works of fiction, including the video game Apocalypse Later and the short story Nacho Terror. I’m currently working on another play that will hopefully go into production later in 2015 (sorry, no spoilers).
I have a BA in Sociology (Honours) and English (Drama) from McGill University, where I made the Dean’s List and received the David N. Solomon Memorial prize for having the highest academic standing in my department. I spent nine months as a Production Intern with Classical Theatre Project. I’ve volunteered with numerous arts organizations, most notably the Fringe Festival in Montreal and Geek Art Show in Kitchener, Ontario, where I was hired as an Executive Assistant when the show rebranded as Altekrea in 2014.
Though I specialize in video games, I’m an avid appreciator of all forms of media, including film, comic books, theatre, and animation. I love exploring the ways in which those cultural products intersect. I have more than five years of professional experience as a critic and a content producer, and I’m hoping to continue that streak with many new endeavors in the years to come.
